More Than a Blog: Welcome to the New JasonNickerson.online

For years, JasonNickerson.online was primarily a place for me to publish the occasional blog post. It followed me through different jobs, projects, events, hosting companies, and several chapters of my career, but it never fully represented the scope of what I was doing across the web industry.

That has now changed.

I have rebuilt JasonNickerson.online, moving it from a basic personal blog into a portfolio and professional biography site that better tells the story of my career, my work, and my ongoing involvement in the hosting and open-source communities.

The new website brings together the different parts of my professional life, including cloud hosting, open source, industry events, strategic marketing, partnerships, and the projects I am currently building. It also provides more context about how I arrived here after more than 20 years of working across the web.

My career has followed many of the major changes that shaped the modern internet. I started during the early days of open-source content management systems, working with platforms such as PHP-Nuke, Joomla, and WordPress. From there, I moved deeper into the hosting industry, working with control panels, cloud platforms, backup technology, event production, partnerships, and community programs.

I have worked with companies and technologies including cPanel, WebPros, Cloudways, DigitalOcean, and JetBackup. I have also spent years helping create the events and conversations that bring the hosting, cloud, domain, and open-source industries together.

The new website gives those experiences a proper home.

Getting Back to Daily Blogging

While building a stronger portfolio was important, this redesign is not only about looking backward. It is also about creating a better platform for what comes next.

I am getting back to blogging regularly, with the goal of publishing something every day about the hosting industry and the wider ecosystem around it.

There is no shortage of things to discuss.

Artificial intelligence is changing how hosting companies build products, operate infrastructure, support customers, secure servers, and position themselves in the market. Consolidation continues to reshape the industry. Control panels, backup platforms, security tools, managed service providers, and cloud companies are all adapting to a very different competitive environment.

At the same time, the conversations taking place inside the industry are not always reaching the wider community.

I want this website to become a place for those conversations.

Some posts will cover industry news and emerging trends. Others will focus on events, companies, products, partnerships, open-source communities, or lessons I have learned from working behind the scenes. I will also share field notes from conferences and honest observations about where the hosting industry is heading.

Not every post will be a polished report or a long-form analysis. Some will be quick thoughts, questions, or observations from the day. The goal is to write consistently and document an industry that is entering one of its most significant periods of change.

A Personal View of the Hosting Industry

There are already plenty of corporate blogs filled with carefully approved announcements and product messaging. That is not what I want JasonNickerson.online to become.

This will remain a personal website.

The opinions will be mine, informed by more than two decades of working with hosting providers, software companies, open-source projects, event organizers, partners, and communities around the world.

I have seen the industry from many different angles. I have worked inside large organizations, helped smaller companies find their position, built partnerships, created campaigns, organized events, and spent countless hours talking with the people running hosting companies.

Those experiences have given me plenty of stories to tell and a perspective that does not always fit neatly into a corporate press release.

The Next Chapter

The redesigned JasonNickerson.online is now part portfolio, part professional biography, and part industry notebook.

It is a place to document where I have been, showcase what I am building, and share what I am seeing across hosting, cloud infrastructure, WordPress, open source, security, artificial intelligence, and industry events.

Most importantly, it gives me a reason to start writing again.

The website has changed, the hosting industry is changing even faster, and there is a lot to talk about.

Welcome to the new JasonNickerson.online.
